Upper Austrian Red Cross Blood Center
Vital Data Acquired Automatically
TEC-IT Software ensures the accurate and automated transmission of Hepatitis and HIV blood-test results in the laboratory of the Upper Austrian Red Cross blood bank.

Vital Data
The Upper Austrian Red Cross Blood Center (http://www.o.roteskreuz.at) saves lives by collecting blood donors and serving hospitals, physicians and patients in Upper Austria with blood supplies. Each product must be tested to 100% before being used in human beings. TEC-IT developed a software solution which further automates the workflow for analyzing blood samples.
Acquired Automatically
The system from TEC-IT (www.tec-it.com) allows the automated data exchange between any Microsoft® Windows® computer and the laboratory device, Abbott® AxSYM, used to test blood samples for Hepatitis and HIV. The connection is made via the Abbott® Standard Interface (ASI), based on ASTM E1381-91 and ASTM E1394-91 standards. The software provides for accurate and reliable transmission of blood test orders and test results through a secured protocol. Thus manual preparation or processing of the data has become obsolete.
Seamless Integration
The software works as middleware between the laboratory information system used at the Red Cross Blood Center and the laboratory device. TEC-IT’s software can be used with all devices according to the mentioned standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Thus ensuring a seamless and error-free acquisition and transmission of blood test results.
Advantages
This advancement enables the Upper Austrian Red Cross Blood Center to eliminate manual processing of test orders and the corresponding results. Costs are reduced and laboratory time is saved. Finally, the quality of vital data is increased.
