Do we need rugged scanners, or will phones do?
For occasional and field use, ordinary Android and iOS phones are usually enough — Scan-IT to Office uses the camera for barcodes, OCR and photos. Rugged hardware still earns its place in high-volume, cold or harsh environments.
Where does the scanned data actually go?
Straight into Microsoft Excel and Word, Google Sheets, Chrome or an ODBC database — into the specific cell or column you configure, in real time. Nothing is exported and retyped afterwards.
What happens with no network coverage?
Data is captured and held on the device, then synchronised when the connection returns. Cold stores, basements and remote sites do not create gaps.
Can we capture more than barcodes?
Yes — images, GPS position, signatures, dates and free-text form fields, using custom forms designed for each workflow.
